How To Enable Image Upload in Kayako Support Suite Staff Panel

What is Kayako Support Suite ?

SupportSuite provides you with the tools needed to quickly set up a seamlessly integrated, coherent support platform, saving you and your business time and money, decrease your response times and increase the efficiency of your online operation.

SupportSuite is our flagship product, integrating the ticket and e-mail management features of eSupport with the live chat and visitor monitoring features of LiveResponse.

Manage your entire support operation, e-mail correspondence from multiple sources and multiple support desk front-ends from a single system.

When it comes to features and functionality Kayako Supportsuite is a fine product indeed. One of the things that is lacking though is the ability to upload new images to the server in order for you to insert them into a KB article for example. Took me a little while, but I found out how to enable the functionality straight into the WYSIWYG editor that comes with Kayako (which is the extremely outdated HTMLArea). Quite sure I'll be making some other guys out there very happy with this guide, as this is a much requested feature

Preparing Anything

1. We assume you already have kayako support suite installed and running on your server
2. Download HTMLArea Image Manager from this URL http://sourceforge.net/projects/imgmngedt

Extract and Copy Plugins directory to kayako directory

Example :

I've extract the HTMLArea Image Manager to c:\temp\htmlarea_wei_31_03_2004
And my kayako support suite path is in c:\inetpub\kayako

Copy all Plugins directory from  c:\temp\htmlarea_wei_31_03_2004\plugins to c:\inetpub\kayako\includes\htmlArea\plugins

Make sure ImageManager directory is in c:\inetpub\kayako\includes\htmlArea\plugins\
So your sturcture will be c:\inetpub\kayako\includes\htmlArea\plugins\ImageManager

Modifying a config.inch.php

Open up the freshly extracted c:\inetpub\kayako\includes\htmlArea\plugins\ImageManager\config.inc.php and change the $IMConfig['base_dir'] and $IMConfig['base_url'] variables to reflect your setup. The other params in the config file can be changed but in most cases they'll work out of the box.

Edit config.inch.php
### change 2 lines below to reflect your server path and URL ###

$IMConfig['base_url'] = 'http://wowtutorial.org/images';
$IMConfig['base_dir'] = 'c:/inetpub\kayako\images';

### Save this file
If we want our images to be located at http://wowtutorial.org/images/
You need to create directory images in c:\inetpub\kayako\images
Give a write permission on this images directory

Next, We will load a ImageManager HTMLArea plugin

Locate to c:\inetpub\kayako\themes\admin_default\cpheader.tpl
and find the line where it reads //HTMLArea.loadPlugin("TableOperations"); (line 53)

On the next line, Insert :
<{if $htmlarea eq true}>HTMLArea.loadPlugin("ImageManager");<{/if}>

### Save this file and done !!
The Result :

Login into your kayako and click knowledgebase TAB
Click Insert Article and you will see a default kayako simple rich text editor
Click on Image to Upload your Image. like diagram below :

After that you will see a upload form below

Click Browse button and choose your file and Click Upload button to upload the image into your server
Click the thumbnail image and click ok to store the image into your article like picture below

After you have click OK button, you will see the result like below :
